Creating a yearly activity in 2011

Creating a yearly activity in 2011

Something unusual is happening with my activities in 2011.

A single event activity creates just fine. Say, a birthday, 20/09/2010, set to be  timeless, any length, and show a banner.

Syncronise with Outlook and all is well.

Convert this single event to a yearly event and syncronise with Outlook.

Outlook shows it as 21/09/2010 and shortly thereafter, ACT! does too!

This happens EVERY time I create a yearly recurring event.

Interesting new feature.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Re: Creating a yearly activity in 2011

I too have found some odd issues in syncing recurring activities with Outlook.

Not sure if it's int'l dates being incorrectly handled or not. Trying to find someone at Sage to discuss them with.

Just wondering... is it only activities with a banner?
Can you check the date in the recurrance tab (as well as the main tab) of the activity - before and after. Do BOTH change?

Also, what version of Outlook?

Much more testing later...

The issue is to do with timeless activities only. Everything else seems to work fine.

FYI. Outlook is 2003. System is XP Pro. Everything is fully patched.

Timeless AND recurring, yes?
Banner doesn't matter?
Is it only Yearly recurring?

Did you check if all THREE dates change (the Start/Stop for the main tab and the Start for recurring)?

Timeless AND recurring - yes.

It happens for both monthly and yearly (have to assume the others as well cuz my day is not long enough to do all of the testing for Sage).

Banner does NOT matter.

Yes! All three dates change.

Re: Creating a yearly activity in 2011

I get same (Office 2010)

I'll give you another... I had recurring activities that I've had in my sys for ages - so the Start Date on main tab was next time it should be done and Start on the Recurrence Tab was when it started.

The sync recreated all the series back to the Recurrence Start date (even though the old ones were all cleared). Erasing the old ones seemed to get them to reappear. So I had to delete them, sync, then re-create them with the recurrence start for the next one... haven't yet cleared one to see what happens.

I've been trying to find someone at Sage that I can log it with (or at least get them to see if they can replicate).... Sage Au said I'm "not a business partner" and not entitled to support - which is not what I want, just to report a possible bug:-(

Hopefully one of the NA techs will see this and respond...

Re: Creating a yearly activity in 2011

Thanks Kurt.

Hotfix not only fixed the date issue “The maximum end date for a recurring activity starting on xx/xxx/xxxx is 01/06/2073.”

It also seems to have fixed the issue I raised.

Nice quick solution.

Re: Creating a yearly activity in 2011

I have recently applied HF2 and guess what... the old problem with recurring activities is back (see prev posts) AND “The maximum end date for a recurring activity starting on xx/xxx/xxxx is 01/06/2073.” is back as well!

Not only that, it appears now that activities no longer use the "To" field and have replaced it within the Scheduling tab. Sounds ok in theory but in practice it is awful! I live by my calendar on my phone and now I can no longer see who the appointment is with. All I see is the subject.

Great... today I have three "Onsite Support" calls... but who the heck are they with?

Kurt, can I have the HF you suggested applied to HF2 please?
