How do I create a Drop-Down list that allows for multiple items to be selected? The list will be called "Product Types" and I want our users to have the option to select multiple types.

Well I have never used this community thing but I am willing to give it a shot because I am completley frustrated. I am extremely new to act and setting (that is the 2006 version) up what I hope is a mailing list through the contacts window. Well a drop down list were I can select different topics that the client wishes to recieve updates on. I have created a drop down list and would like the multi select option but it won't even let me do anything with that step in the process and I don't understand what I am doing wrong. If I am creating a mailing list is there a better place to do that. Irregardless of that question I can't seem to get the multi select thing and it is driving me mad. Where is a free comprehensive training program when you need it. Any help you can provide would be great. This person whom you replied to from what I could see couldnt really figure it out either and you seem to be pretty knowlegable.

|If the field is on the contact, group or company tables, just set the dropdown to multi select. |

Tools/Define Fields/Select the field you would like to be multi-select/Edit Field/Click NEXT/there are 4 checkboxes... "Allow Multi-select" is the second checkbox. Click Finish.
You must have the correct security permissions to do this.
Hope that helps!

Just to follow up on your response to the Allow Multi-Select option...if this option/check box was greyed out would it then mean you (as a user) wouldn't have the secuirty/access to modify this?

Correct the field security level if set to read-only will grey out that option box to check. You (with Admin rights) need to either remove from Define fields Field Security for your user name and or others plus in the Teams from Read Only to Full Control.
