Creating New Database - Microsoft SQL Error

We have one database on a shared drive we all access.  I'm trying to create a new shared database.  I'm trying to build it on my local drive and keep getting the following error message:  Unable to create the database.  There is an error connecting to the Microsoft SQL Server.  My other database is operating fine.

I'm saving to my local My Computer Drive.  I have Share this database with other users selected.  Error message after trying to create it is:  Unable to create the database.  There is an error connecting to the Microsoft SQL Server.

Any suggestions.

Thanks!

Re: Creating New Database - Microsoft SQL Error

Check to see if the SQL service is started.

- Close ACT!

- Go to Start and select Run.

- Type in services.msc and click Ok.

- Find SQL Server (ACT7) and start the service.

Re: Creating New Database - Microsoft SQL Error

I have had the same problem. I downloaded the trial version of ACT11. I am running VISTA Home Premium.

When I tried to open the trial database I receved the message:

"The database ACT11Demo could not be accessed. In order to access this database, check your network connection and verify that your database server is available. It may be necessaryto disable any firewall software on your computer or server."

When I tried to open a new database, I received the following meesage:

"Unable to create the database. There is an errorconnecting to the Microsoft SQL Server"

I am also saving to my local drive.

I tried the suggestion here and SQL Server (ACT7) has been started I have set the startup type to Automatic.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Try disabling the Windows Firewall and UAC.

Re: Creating New Database - Microsoft SQL Error

Am using Vista Home premium. Disabled UAC and Firewalls. Right clicked on SQL Server (Act 7), then clicked Start. Message came up "Windows could not start theSQL Server (Act 7) on Local Computer. For more information, review the System Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor and refer to service-specific error code 10013.
