Copy database to a CD

Hi,

Can anyone tell me how to copy a whole database to a CD ?

When I try to do it, a message shows up saying is not able to to it, because the database is in use, even though I'm not using the program...

Thanks.

Re: Copy database to a CD

The database is opened by the SQL server at boot time and is always open unless the SQL server is stopped. Your best bet is to do a backup in ACT! and copy the backup file to the CD.

Within ACT, use the File, Backup Command and backup to your computer desktop, then close ACT and copy the resulting zip file from your desktop to the cd.

Don't just try and copy the ACT data files directly without stopping SQL or detatching using ACT diag.  It is the SQL program that has the files in use even though ACT is closed.
