Contact Synch question

Hello,

We have a client with over 7,000 contacts.  Most users have similar contact names if not exact names in Outlook.  If we enable the synching of contacts we want to have Sage be the "correct" database so no one is over-writing valuable data between outlook and sage.

1. If user has same name contacts in Outlook as Sage will these be deleted over-written?

2. If users have personal contacts will these be deleted or imported to Sage ?

Essentially we want to create a one way synch and that is it.  The options are very vague in the settings which give you the following.

If the same contact has been updated in Act! and Outlook:

Keep the ACT! contact

Keep the Outlook Contact

and Add Outlook Contacts to Sage ACT! and synchronize changes.

Re: Contact Synch question

In my experience this always fails at some point in the future as the setting you mention are for two synchronisation. I generally prefer to use one of the 3rd party tools like companionlink to achieve this one way for clients.

We looked at companion link but it is way too expensive for them.

Re: Contact Synch question

It's not really if you look at ROI rather than cost... one error needing a paid support fix will cost more than CL or (if needing on a phone, Handheld Contact)

The third-party solutions offer more functionality (eg they work with international contacts which Sage's solutions done, and support more ACT! data) and they are more reliable.
