Commands on left side pane dissapeared

Act Premium V 21 Update 7 on Windows 10 Pro.

When jiggling some things around, I seem to have lost the search criteria boxes and drop downs from that section. Cannot get anything to appear in any screen.

I know I must have pressed the wrong thing somewhere but have not found anything to change it back no matter what I left click/right click or threaten!

Can someone help???

Hi,

Always make a backup of your database first.  File > Backup
Make note of login and password.  Tools > Manage Users

Close Act!

Go to task manager and end any tasks that note Act!

In Windows File Explorer type %Appdata%
Look for a folder named Act.  Rename to Act_old
(If it does not allow name change a program like Outlook may still be accessing the folder)

Relaunch Act!

Thank you,

Re: Commands on left side pane dissapeared

I thought that this simple trick had solved all. However, when I come back to "Enable ACT Marketing" and then restart, we revert back to the previous problem. No search or contact look up on the left hand pane.

On the restart (after enabling) I get a message that the database that it has just opened is not available and I should check firewalls, Network settings etc. I click OK and the database stays open with full functionality.....

So now I have a choice. Use ACT with all the tools but without ACT marketing or use ACT marketing and struggle without the tools. I prefer the former until this can be solved.

Please let me know if you need more information.

Hello,

Back in that folder just delete the file name:

actnavbar_premv21.ser

Close and reopen Act.
