Cleaning up deleted databases from ACTDIAG

When a database dies or is manually deleted it still stays in the database list of ACTDIAG so you cannot create a new database of the same name. You also cannot connect with it to remove from ACTDIAG so you are at an impass. You can create a database and rename to match the old so it can be removed but if the drive letter has changed even this will not work.

Which brings me to - I know somewhere I have seen an article on using a 3rd part tool here to do this but search as I may I cannot find the article.

Question. Can you repeat or link me to the article.

Comment. Would be nice to have a feature in ACTDIAG to do this.

Re: Cleaning up deleted databases from ACTDIAG

You can drop a database from that list by right clicking on your Windows button and selecting Command Prompt, and then typing the following where dbname = the name of the database you want to drop

sqlcmd -E -S localhost\act7
1> drop database [dbname]
2> go

Re: Cleaning up deleted databases from ACTDIAG

A big thanks to Michael Kadlub for the procedure and thanks to Gary and team for adding into Knowledge Base.

If at some time it could be added into the ACTDIAG to run a script that  would be the icing on the cake.
