Cannot open any older databases after loading ACT2013

Hi,

I cannot open any of my previous databases since loading ACT2013. I think the problem is because I changed the Computer name of my computer which it may not recognize now.

I get this error message when I attempt to open any of my older databases which I have to find away to solve this as infro from those databases I need badly now.

The error message is as follows:

The "glen-2011" computer could not be reached because the IP address '''' could not be resolved. Verify the "glen-2011" is available on the network, that it has the correct IP address, and that Microsoft SQL Server is properly installed may resolve this issue.

What can I do to resolve this issue. If I change the computer name back to what it was I am not sure what it will do to the only working database I am able to use now.

Please let me know as soon as you can.

Thank You,

Glen

Re: Cannot open any older databases after loading ACT2013

Hello Glen,
To resolve this:
- Browse to the location of your old databases
- Delete the .PAD file for each of those databases (i.e., glensdatabase.pad)
- In ACT!, go to File > Open/Share Database
- Open your old database from the list
If your old database is not in the list:

                 * Click the link in the lower left for "The database I want is not listed"
                 * In the Open screen, change the file type in the lower right from .PAD to .ADF
                 * Open the database with the .ADF file

- This will recreate the .PAD file with your new computer name
