Cannot log onto ACT! Database after adding Admin Account.

I am currently using ACT 2009 Ver. 11 Premium


I have a database that was being used by a single user and it was working flawlessly. I was asked to demote the current user from"admin" to  "manager" and create a new account for the administrator.


I created the new admin account and shared the database. Now I cannot log into act via the orignial user's account information or through the new admin account that I've created. I keep getting an error saying that the login information cannot be verified. 


Any input will be greatly appreciated. 


P.S. I have read KB 14150, but it didn't help.

Here are some options:


1) Delete preferences

See KB article 14770

Use KB 22879 if 14770 does not resolve


2) Try logging into the Demo database first

The Demo is named ACT(version#)Demo and the default location is C:\Documents and Settings\ACT\Act for Windows (version#)\Databases

Username is "Chris Huffman" with no password

If successful, then try logging into your database


3) Restore a backup of your database before you made the user changes.

Redo the changes, ensuring that you have documented the proper username and do not use a password.

If you need to create a password later, you can do some from File/Set Password


If these fail, then I would advise that you contact ACT! Support to reset your password by calling the number included with your support plan or at (800) 927-3989
