Re: Cannot complete sync - Incorrect syntax error '*'

Ok - didn't realize the new remote failed also.

You mention running repairs on the main database, were these done through ACTDiag, or from the Tools > Database Maintenance option?

Your next option may have to be restoring a backup of the main database, then exporting contact updates from the damaged database to the restored copy. Then create new remotes.

ok so this is a publisher database, how would it work for pulling over new act users over to the new database and handling new sync sets?

Re: Cannot complete sync - Incorrect syntax error '*'

Are you referring to new users/sync sets created since the back up was created? If yes, you'll want to manually add the users/sync sets before the export. That will provide the current records with a username to associate with. Be sure the user names are spelled exactly the same.

Are there any updates on this error message?

Re: Cannot complete sync - Incorrect syntax error '*'

I managed to solve it about a month ago.

The problem was that the main db was damaged, after testing a newly created remote dataabse. What I did was to recreate a new main db with a back up of  one of the remote db which has exactly the same record and contact as the main. And it work seamlessly.

Points to note before you do this.

1. Make sure your c drive is not compressed. SQL hates that.

2. Run actdiag

3. Check if your sql servers are of the same version for both main and remote

4. You have enough disk space

Don't waste too much time on anything else and just do the above or cracking your brains out thinking what's wrong.
