I have the new ACT! Premium 2011 on a mothership with Windows XP. I am trying to build a remote database for synching to a laptop. I went thru the steps of creating a remote database. I get the "Please wait, your databases are being built" statement but the process times out after about 20 minutes when the database isn't created. Am I missing something?

You can increase the timeout values by using the Actdiag utility (Windows Start button > select Run > enter 'Actdiag' > click enter). Under the Tools option you will find 'Adjust Timeout Values' - increase the values for 'command timeout', 'connection timeout', and 'bigread timeout'.
Also:
- How large is your database (ADF file and DatabaseFiles folder)?
- Test creating a remote database in the Demo database.
- In your main database, run Tools > Database Maintenance > Check and Repair - it will perform maintenance and a reindex of the database. Then try creating a remote.
- How much memory (RAM) is on the XP machine?
