Backup and Restore

Hi

I have a few question pertaining act!10, hoe somebody can help. TQ

1.  Must we create the act database from the server?

2.  Once created from the server, can we do the backup from the WS and Restore from the WS using Restore. (instead of Restore AS)

First question, you need to create the database on the server if you intend to share it across the network.

Once you create the database on the server, you cannot back it up and restore it from a workstation to a network location. Period. Both restore functions only provide for local database restorations.

Just for clarity, the "Restore" option is intended only for restorations to the exact local path and with the exact name, while "Restore As" can be used for local restorations on the same computer in a different destination, or on a different computer entirely.

Re: Backup and Restore

TQ for your reply.

Does it mean, we have to backup and restore from the SERVER if we created the database from the SERVER? Am i right to say that beside using  the scheduler backup, the users has to physically go to the SERVER to make a add hoc backup?

If the database is created on local PC first then later we use the Restore AS into SERVER to be able to share with multiple users, in this way, can we back/restore from the local PC?
