Backup Fails when Database is Shared, Works when Unshared

One day recently, my client's ACT database backup stopped working after months of perfect service.  It drops a .BAK file in the database files/backups folder and then fails with:

The following error occurred during backup.  The backup was cancelled.
A nonrecoverable I/O error occurred on file "\\SERVER\Client-database files\Backup\\SERVER_Client_D20090826T200257.bak:"64(The specified network name is no longer available.).
BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally.
PRC_MAIN_BACKUPDB: ERROR EXECUTING DATABASE BACKUP STATEMENT

If I UNSHARE the DB I can backup without any issues.  I really want to get this fixed so I can re-enable nightly automated backups using scheduler.

I've tried a check and repair/reindex on the DB which didn't help.  Are those two backslashes an issue after Backup?  "Backup\\Server"

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Backup Fails when Database is Shared, Works when Unshared

I fixed it after trying every type of repair available in ACT! Diag.

1. Unshare your DB in ACT!

2. Make a Backup Copy

3. Delete the database

4. Run a Restore As and name it the same

Your backups will work now!
