Auto Numbering Docs

[ Edited ]

Is there a way to add a field that will automatically number the field, then remember and move on to the next number in the series with the next document?

Example

Letter number one          File#1001

Letter number two          File#1002

Fax                              File#1003

There is no field type in ACT! that can do that, but if you are referring to Word templates then there is probably a Word field that can be used for numbering documents (maybe Page field?) and added to the template.  However, this number will not be in your ACT! database.  You can always create a number field in ACT!, manually enter the numbers and have that print, but that would probably be very cumbersome.  There may be an add-on product that can do this....try look on www.actsolutions.com or www.actaddons.com.

Note: Effective 6/1/13, Sage no longers provides support for the Act! software. This is now provided by Swiftpage.
