Attach File Paperclip Icon -- which Tab should it store to, the History or Documents tab?

ACT! Premium 21.1 Update 2

Windows 10

A customer today pointed out that he just upgraded to ACT! Premium v21.1 and now the Attach File Paperclip Icon attaches to the Documents tab when it had been attaching to the History Tab as an "Attachment" History Type.

I just tested another computer running ACT! Premium v21.1 and it attaches "correctly" to the History tab.

Which Tab should it attach to, the History or Documents tab?  Is there a GUI control for this?

Hello,

Clicking the Paperclip on Histry Tab addes the file to the Documents tab.
I do not know of a way to override that.

Re: Attach File Paperclip Icon -- which Tab should it store to, the History or Documents tab?

Thanks Carl, I am referring to clikcing on the Paperclip in the mini icon bar at the top of the ACT! screen.  Prior to 21.1, it attached to the History Tab.  With the 21.1 update, on some computers it now attaches to the Documents tab.  Some computers work properly, attaching to the History Tab, but some machines now attach to the Documents tab.

I spoke with ACT! Support today and they said this is a known issue, Defect # GS1731.

Thanks again.

Sorry Phillip,
The link is just for "completeness" of the community. It belongs to a "restricted area" for ACCs.
It doesn't contain any additional info, it's only sets a reference to another mention of the Defect number...

Re: Attach File Paperclip Icon -- which Tab should it store to, the History or Documents tab?

Not a direct answer to your question but:

  • CTRL+I will attach to the history tab.
  • You may also manually add an Attach button to a view toolbar using the Customize... command (right-click the bar to see the command). You'll need to select the Commands tab in the Customize Menus and Toolbars window, then Contacts for Category. Then drag and drop the Attach command to the bar.
