In ACT! is there a way or what is the best way to assign a new contact or sales lead to a specific user? For instance a call comes into our main switchboard from a potential customer, is it possible for the secretary to record the new contact in ACT! and then assign that contact to the salesman user in ACT! that handles that area? Possibly record manager could be used to do this? Also once a sales lead/new contact is assigned is there a way for the user that inputted and assigned the contact to notify the user assigned of that new contact? Any suggestions from users that may also be using ACT! to manage sales leads or any Add-Ons that complete this function?

Having the assistant/secretary assign new contacts to the appropriate Record Manager is a very good method. To help with tracking new prospects as they are entered, you may want to use a combination of the Record Manager and ID/Status fields. Assign the contact to the Record Manager and select an ID/Status to indicate a 'New Prospect', then the individual users can perform a lookup of their records (record manager) and sort the Contact List by the ID/Status field (or perform an additional Lookup to narrow the results). As the individual users 'work' the new contacts, they will then change the ID/Status to something more appropriate so it no longer indicates 'new prospect'.

The assistant can also create a new activity and Schedule it For the appropriate user. (requires them to be granted access by that user)
