The database I'm working in currently uses the same layout across all opportunities. They would like me to create and apply different layouts based on the opportunity to their already existing opportunities. Is there a way for me append a new layout to multiple existing opportunities at the same time? I'm trying to avoid changing each opportunities layout manually as there are many. Any assistance is appreciated.

The layout isn't part of the opportunity, it's a form for displaying the information in the database. If you open an old opportunity with the new layout active, the old data will display in the new form.

Correct Jason. I need to apply a different layout based on the opportunity. Going forward, the user will need to choose the correct layout based on the opportunity type they are creating. However, I need to figure out how to apply the new layouts to existing opportunities without having to go into each one and change the layout. Do you know if Act! offers this functionality?

The layouts aren't attached to the opportunities. It's the same as a new opportunity, choose the layout you want to use. To have it automatically switch the layout there would have to be a field that specified the layout to use and coding to make the switch when the data was displayed. The only addon that might be able to do that is the Durkin Impact Suite. Otherwise it would require custom programming.

If you have a product field added to the opportunity table that might work but if you are using the ACT! products they are located in a separate table and I don't see how that could be used. If you don't have it alreasy you need to get a copy of the ACT! SDK (Software Development Kit).

Doesn't one of our add-on partners have something that will enable you to choose a layout automatically depending on a field value?
Can't remember who it is though.
