I have been using Handheld Contact, the mobile app for my Android to show my ACT! contacts. It's time for me to renew, so before I renew, I was wondering if anyone had compared and/or used CompanionLink (Express or Pro versions), Handheld Contact, and eXact Contacts for ACT!. Should I switch from Handlheld Contact to CompanionLink or eXact? I want to be able to see all my notes, history, and as many other details from ACT! on my phone as possible (Handheld Contact only shows the main contact information such as phone numbers and address and can only look up by first name, last name, and company. Any successes or failures with your experience with CompanionLink? Which version, Express or Pro?

CompanionLink is free to try, so you can just download and try it out. You'll want CompanionLink Express for ACT! to Android. On your phone you download DejaOffice.
DejaOffice gives you lots of fields on Contacts, including full phone numbers, addresses, and nine "custom fields" from ACT! You can sort by the first Custom fields. DejaOffice features are generally the same on Android and iPhone. Windows Phone and BlackBerry 10 are supported with a slightly reduced feature set.
The best part of DejaOffice on Android are the Home Page widgets. You can see your Month view and Day view on the Android home screen, without opening any Apps. These views shift as your days go on. If you need directions to the next appointment, just tap the appointment on your home screen and it will bring you right in to the spot for mapping. DejaOffice has a feature to Map Nearby Contacts, so you can show a Google map with "Pins" to show which of your contacts are near you when you travel about. Finally, DejaOffice does time zone changes right, so if you set a schedule and then travel, your schedule doesn't shift for hours when you land.
Note; CompanionLink supports sync to all versions of ACT! and Act! including ACT! 6 and ACT! 2000. We support sync to Act! Cloud Essentials. We will be introducing Act! Premium Cloud sync as the API becomes available which is expected in the next 60 days. (Nov 2015)

Thanks for your message regarding CompanionLink Express. I'm a single user that syncs from my PC to my Android Phone, a Galaxy Note. Just one database, but may want to sync with outlook too. Should I go with CompanionLink Express or Pro? Also according to this link: http://www.companionlink.com/android/act/ I need to choose between Dejacloud, USB, Google Sync, and a couple of other options. Which one should I choose? Also, I have another syncing app on my phone, Handheld Contact. Will it create problems if I don't remove it from my phone?

This won't create any problems with other apps on the phone. The world is better off with options, and DejaOffice plays nicely with everything.
CompanionLink Express will let you set up two profiles; one for DejaCloud and the phone, and the other for instant and automatic Outlook sync called DoubleLook. This is a lot better than Act! Outlook sync because it's instant, you never have to worry about being out of date. http://www.companionlink.com/products/doublelook.html
What Pro would add is the ability for more profiles, or to add a separate data file into the sync. For instance keep Personal data in one Outlook folder but Business data in another. The upgrade price is simply the difference, so there's no penalty to buying Express now, and then deciding to upgrade to Pro later. I've been a desktop Act! user for years and CompanionLink Express ticks all the smartphone boxes for me. It also automatically passes Contacts to Android's native Contacts for easier dialling and Caller ID. The killer app is DejaCloud - I used to use Google Gmail to sync contacts via the Cloud, but couldn't stop it emailing clients whenever I entered an Act! Calendar appointment. It was erratic which was even worse. Crazy or what? DejaCloud just works quietly and syncs in the background.

Thanks, Autitor for the great review. We continue to work hard on DejaCloud to make it fast and efficient. Look for a new Material Design "Look" to DejaOffice in the new future, along with even smoother service.
As the Act! Premium Web API becomes more robust we look to smoothly supporting that. We currently support Act! Cloud Essentials and all past Act! versions including Act! 2000 and Act! 6.

Are there any more recent thoughts about the best way to link ACT! (v20) with an Android phone. I have a Companionlink subscription, have tried Google and recently used Act! Companion. All have flaws IMHO and never seem to deliver the information I need when I want it. I've spent more time removing duplicates and tidying things up than I've ever gained (sorry Companionlink but that's my experience and I've been a user for several years.)
Open to suggestions...

Stevenb, I'm sorry to hear about the duplicates.
The common reason people get duplicates is that they have multiple sync systems set up. It's not hard, since CompanionLink offers a lot of options, and also there is overlap with Act! Internal functions (Outlook/Google Integration).
Our team can help you map a simple sync system where Act! is the hub, and the sync goes out to your Outlook, Google and/or Phone. Doing it this way ensures that each sysetm is an out-and-back sync, and that you are not chaining multiple solutions from multiple vendors.
