I like the Activities Report a lot; however, it only gives me activities options such as Calls, Meetings, ToDos etc. I also wanted to be able to see all histories. I know there is another report (Notes/Histories) but it seems silly to have to run different reports instead of a simple one.
Basically I wanted to have a report that tells me everything that happened within a period (E-mails exchanged, Notes added, ToDos, etc) so that during the meeting I am able to discuss future activities/meetings/etc.

I've created a custom report that I sell that sounds like what you're lookingfor. I've attached a PDF of the report for you to look at. I ran the report for the demo database to create the PDF.
