Act v18m Dropbox Not Uploading ACT Backup Files

Act! Premium Version 18.2.53.0, Update 2

Windows 10 Pro 1607 OS Build 14393.321

We have aACT setup to save daily backups to a local Dropbox folder. Dropbox then syncs this to the cloud. This has worked fines under Windows 7 but since upgrading to Windows 10 Dropbox stopped uploading the file sue to security restrictions.

If I go to the folder properties/Security Tab and then check the box "Replace all child object permission entries with inheritable permission entries from this object" then the upload will take place. But the next time ACT creates another backup the cycle starts over again.

So in summary, I'm trying to save my ACT backups to a synced Dropbox folder so they are backed up to the cloud but it seems Windows security settings of newly created ACT backup files are preventing this.

Any ideas?

You need to go to services.mas, select the Act! Scheduler service, right-click properties ... and change the Logon to a user account
Then it will work

Re: Act v18m Dropbox Not Uploading ACT Backup Files

I just had this problem and realise that I had no backup!!

Can you imagine the quantity of client who think they have a backup everyday and they are not!!!

Me i have Ondrine and Idrive and the 2 sofware where not backingup my files.

It should be taking care by the sofware not the user.

Tomorrow I will make some calls!!

Re: Act v18m Dropbox Not Uploading ACT Backup Files

We don't have any problem with doing this by just making a folder (perhaps called 'Act Backups') in the PC folder and selecting that folder for the scheduled or manual Act! backups.

This is then automatically synchronised up to the 'Cloud' whether it's Dropbox, iDrive or OneDrive etc..

Make sure you have enough space on your Cloud drive.

What is your Windows version?
Because I can tell you I have a specific folder as you say and nor onedrive or Idrive sync my backup files.
