Act for Web 11.01.054 - Possible to specify which users can login?

We have a mix environement where some 20 users are based at the office. For these users we use the Act 11 workgroup software. We also have some people on the road. They would like to be able to use the Act for Web interface.

I have set up an Act for Web 11 server, and all is working well... but..

I would like to only grant the specific on-the-road users the possibility to login in Act for Web, and to withhold access for all other (internal) users (since they would only need to work on the same database through the act workgroup solution.

Currently i do not see any options to specify which users can login and which can't. Is there such a solution?

And if indeed there is no such solution yet, of course i will send in a request. In that case, who is also requesting such a solution?

Also there is no logfile to see what logins have been taken place. Anybody has suggestions about this item as well?

Kind regards from The Netherlands,

Re: Act for Web 11.01.054 - Possible to specify which users can login?

The easiest way to specify which users can use the web version is to set the Virtual folder in IIS to require authentication and then just allow the users you want to have access. For more info, see this ACT! Knowledge Base article -

How to Configure Windows Integrated Authentication (also known as NT Challenge/Response) for ACT! Pr...

For the user logs, you could try ACTDIAG | Databases | Audit Logs.... or, for a much neater way, try one of these free Dashboard extras:

Data Chart control for ACT! Dashboard - 10.0.2 and above or Custom Dashboard Components using the ACT! OLE/DB

Mike,

As always, you're great.

Will implement such an authentication before giving the possibility to logon to APFW.
