based on this article

"http://kb.sagesoftwareonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/14398/~/how-to-enable-trace-logging-in-act!"

except my "ActSage.exe.config" file does not contain a "Act Search Service Event log tracking"

has it been moved??????

thanks inadvance

Re: Act Search Service Event

softy783,

Yes, they changed how the logging works.  I will update the Knowledgebase Article or create a new one for 2013 after I'm done replying here.

The section is now less general, and allows you to pick specific logging areas.  So you could turn off all logging except for one part where you have a verbose log running.  The section you're looking for is as follows:

<switches>
<!--Logging Levels: value =
0 – Off
1 – Error
2 – Warning
3 – Info
4 – Verbose
-->

<!-- New High Level Log Categories - beginning with ACT! 12.1 -->
<add name="ACTCommonSwitch" value="1"/>
<add name="ACTFrameworkSwitch" value="1"/>
<add name="ACTApplicationSwitch" value="1"/>

<!-- The categories below are not used in new code, but still exist in legacy code
(i.e., you may need to set the logging levels for both the old (below)
and the new (above) categories for now -->
<add name="ACTCoreSwitch" value="1"/>
<add name="ACTUISwitch" value="1"/>
<add name="ACTIntegrationSwitch" value="1"/>
<add name="ACTSecuritySwitch" value="1"/>
<add name="ACTSyncSwitch" value="1"/>
<add name="ACTSyncSetupSwitch" value="1"/>
<add name="ACTDesignTimeSwitch" value="1"/>
<add name="ACTExtendedSwitch" value="0"/>
<add name="ACTReportingSwitch" value="1"/>
<add name="ACTGDISnapshotSwitch" value="1"/>
</switches>

Let me know if you need more assistance.

Re: Act Search Service Event

I think the multiple folder logs are a throwback from an earlier version.  I've mentioned it a few times, but it's worth revisiting.  I'll throw the suggestion back in the list and see where it goes.

Re: Act Search Service Event

thanks 4 info so..I am checking all my "config" files and setting all logging to either "4" or "verbose".......

now can i assume all reported log data can be searched by "*.actlog" or are there other formats to consider ie "*.log" etc

aside from mssql, IIS logs

thanks inadvance

of course if all reported to same folder I would not be asking..(-:

Re: Act Search Service Event

I haven't done extensive testing on it, but it should be in .actlog.
