Act Premium for Web, problem with Merge using a Windows 7 machine

I can't get the mail merge to work on any of my Windows 7 machines. When I try to use it using an IE browser, it repeatedly tries installing the merge utility but never works.

Reading the forums I see that IE 8 should work, but I can't find any way to get that on these machines as all IE installers for Windows 7 are for IE 9.

Firefox just has Merge grayed out so I'm stumped.

Has anyone had any luck with this?

Here is a link for IE8

Try putting IE9 In Compatibibility mode and make sure pop up blocker is off.  Also make sure your APFW site is added to your trusted sites.

Re: Act Premium for Web, problem with Merge using a Windows 7 machine

Thanks for your response.

The IE8 installer doesnt' work for WIndows 7. I tried your other suggestions and I still have the same results. The window just pops up telling me "This feature requires Microsoft Word Integration. Would you like to download and install the application now?"

When I run that and try Merge again, it tells me the same thing. If I run it again, it uninstalls it. Over and over. In Word I can see that the addin has been added.

Any help?

In word, is the application both added and Active?

It is active, I'm not sure what "added" is though if that is something extra.

Has anyone solved this? I have the same problem!

I'm trying to use the mail-merge for Act Premium for Web through IE8. The system refuses to actually install the software. The installation is "complete" but it never works. It just keeps installing the merge utility but never works. Frustrated Smiley Sad

The merge utility install just fine into Microsoft word. The addon is installed and working in MS Word, but not in the ACT web software.

Try disabling the Windows UAC feature before attempting to install the mail merge program.  Here is an article with instructions for disabling UAC: KB Article 25665

You can also try running the install file 'As Administrator', this is done by: right click on install file > select 'Run As Adminstrator'.

I"m told the desktop version of the plugin doesn't play well with the web version of hte plugin. Pick one and remove the other to continue your test.

Re: Still looking for a resolution with Mailmerge

Gmartin, thanks for your response. My UAC feature is already disabled.

Jonmklub, how do I uninstall the desktop plugin from my browser? I can't even find it in the add-on in the manager.

I'm really anxious for a solution. This challenge is starting to interfere with operations. Thank you for you help.
