Act Premium Mobile - file attachments

Is it possible to attach any type of file to a Contact record using Premium Mobile on an iPhone/iPad etc, other than an image file?

Documents by Readdle - I've found it to be very flexible.

Excellent idea, I guess that should be developed for mobile access.

Hi all,

It is possible, you just need to use the Attach Photo option to upload another kind of file. It is not actually limited to just photo files.

They will however show up with a Result of Photo:

I agree this option could be better presented. I've submitted feedback on this before.

But the attached file... when I see the database... is not in the  Contact / Documents Tab...  but in history , is that correct?  just to be sure...

Re: Act Premium Mobile - file attachments

Hi Gary

Thank you for your reply.

I am still struggling a little.

In my example I am selecting a Contact, followed by the Attach Photo Quick Action.

I then have the option to Choose File.

I can then: -

  • Take Photo or Video
  • Go to Photo Library
  • Got to iCloud Drive

I am using an iPhone 5s.

Am I missing a trick here?

@crmdata The options for file uploading will depend on what apps you have installed in your device. For more filetype support, I would recommend installing Dropbox or Documents.

@juancarlosoterogarcia Files uploaded through the mobile web interface will appear in the history tab. That's correct.

Hi Gary

The problem I have is that when I click on the Choose File button it will only let me chose from my Photo Gallery

Hi crmdata,

Do you have any other file browsing apps installed on your device? i.e. Dropbox or Documents.

Re: Act Premium Mobile - file attachments

I don't yet no.

Maybe it will help if I can be more specific.

Scenario - I am in a meeting taking notes with say MS One Note using the handwriting tool.

Could I then attach those notes to a Contact or Company record in Act! Mobile?

Sorry for not being clear at start

Re: Act Premium Mobile - file attachments

Ahh, it depends on how MS One Note can save files. File browsing is quite limited on iOS devices. If the One Note app does not appear as a source of files to select from, this is due to Microsoft not adding this functionality into the sharing extension that your mobile browser uses to upload files.
It might be possible to work around this by saving your notes to an intermediary location like Documents, where you can then upload them into Act Premium Mobile.
