We have Act! Premium, v18.2
We would like our engineers to be able to view customer data/history offline; the areas they work in our not the best for receiving mobile data, so viewing through the web is not really an option.
If we set them up as 'browse' users would they be able to view Act! offline on an android device? Would they then need to sync each evening to ensure they are showing the latest information?

The best solution is Handheld Contact

A few of clients use this and are very happy with it.

HandHeld contact is a great solution for phone or tablet. if they need the full desktop version along with custom fields and tables or opportunities, you would need a sync database. the sync database can sync on a timer or by pushing a button with the master database.

Thanks. If they had the full version along with HHC, could they view offline as 'browse' users, or would we need to purchase licences?
The reason I ask is HHC limits the amount of history you see; to carry out their service visits they would need to be able to view all history.

It seems from your questions you would need your field workers to have access to the full features of ACT and therefore a remote database that syncs back to the main database seems to be a solution but this also depends on what your people carry with them, is it windows based?
On another point you would need a licence if the field operatives need to sync.
To resolve the issues talk with someone about what it is you need to enable your people to carry out their job and then someone with ACT knowledge can help you move forward with a solution. The number of people involved and your budget will also be deciding factors.
