Act! 2012 Pro and SQL Server Express

Does ACT! work with SQL Server Express on the databse server? I looked here but was unclear:

If you already have SQL Express then you will need to create a new instance call ACT7 and then you should be able to attach to the instance.

Hi Paul,

Yes I already have SQL Express on the server. Will the install of ACT! 2012 on the server create the instance?

Thanks for your guidance.

Cheers mate.

Re: Act! 2012 Pro and SQL Server Express

In general I would recommend to create a manual instance as I have seen it go horribly wrong if it does not work correctly and you sure do not want to have to rebuild whatever the other product using SQL is doing.

You might test this on a another machine first before doing on the server so you know the screens to expect and there is a KB article on subject.

BTW it should be SQL Express 2008 and the files are also on the install disk
