Act 2009 (V11) Premium installation on Windows 2008 server running SharePoint 2007

All,

I currently have Act 2008 (v10) Premium edition installed on a Windows 2003 Web Edition server.  We do not have the web interface to Act install and we don't intend on installing the web interface in the future.

We have another Windows 2003 server which is our domain controller.

Any problems with installing Act 2009 (V11) Premium onto the Windows 2008 server running SharePoint 2007 since that server already has a Microsoft SQL server 2005 installed in order to run SharePoint 2007?

I have done a search on the forums but could not find anything on SharePoint 2007 and Windows 2008.

My thinking is that Act should just install the SQL bits and instance that it needs and I would do a restore of the data from the current server.

Comments?

Thanks,

Ken

ACT! 2009 has added Windows 2008 support.

The install will add it's own SQL instance

You should also read this ACT! Knowledge Base article - http://tinyurl.com/6kqeqf

Re: Act 2009 (V11) Premium installation on Windows 2008 server running SharePoint 2007

Hi,

Thanks for the links.  The one about web interface for Act did not apply to us.

Had to add the port for the sync service.

I noticed that on my computer, I have the new v11 database listed on the new server and the old v10 database listed in the last 4 under the file menu.

Anyway to remove these old entries?

Actually I spoke a bit too soon.

With the firewall inside of Windows server 2008 enabled, the direct connect users can't access the database.  Disable the firewall and they can connect.

Any ideas?

Remote users are fine.

Re: Act 2009 (V11) Premium installation on Windows 2008 server running SharePoint 2007

Hi....

Might have it working....looks like TCP port 1433 and UDP port 1434 needed to be allowed thru the Windows 2008 firewall.

But enough for this week....time to go home.

Thanks again.

Hi,

Thanks for that.  I had found that document as well.

As I stated, I had to add the two ports to make things work.
