I made a copy of the database so I could experiment with adding new fields and importing data before doing it to our live database.
I have NOT shared the copy.
But when I try to edit fields in the copy, it shows users logged in. I assume this is because they were logged in when I copied the DB?
If I lock the COPY (which is not shared and should not have anyone logged in) will it kick those users out of the primary database?

Not enough info to make correct recommendations -
Please read before posting http://community.act.com/t5/Act/PLEASE-READ-THIS-BEFORE-YOU-MAKE-A-NEW-POST/td-p/233496
what version of act? help / about - what os ? etc..
How did you make copy of act db? act / file / save copy / save as ? ....( recommended method ).
Did you manully copy paste some file/folder items? and did you stop act7 sql service before attempting that?
Close act - then try to stop start your act7 sql server service ( start / run / services.msc )
Always Backup your ACT! databases and Personal files daily and before making changes to db...ACT / File / Backup / etc...
Hope that helps - cheers - FSB
