ACT2011 Upgrade from ACT2008 Prem

Just wondering if the time and headache are worth it to migrate from ACT2008 Prem to ACT2011 Prem?  Thanks in advance for your thoughts and suggestions?

Re: ACT2011 Upgrade from ACT2008 Prem

Hello johns73,
Welcome to the Sage ACT! User Community. The biggest change in going from 2008 to 2011 is the update to the version of SQL Server (2005 to 2008). If you are upgrading an existing SQL 2005 to 2008, this will make the install longer. I have found that is it best to uninstall SQL 2005, reboot, then install ACT! 2011 and SQL 2008. Only uninstall SQL 2005 if no other programs are using it.

Note: Effective 6/1/13, Sage no longers provides support for the Act! software. This is now provided by Swiftpage.

Re: ACT2011 Upgrade from ACT2008 Prem

many thanks Greig. Must say that I have had a very difficult time getting "internet sync" to work. ACT support says that Since the "syncconfigurationfile.xml" is not located in Documents and
Settings/All Users/Act Data file and the 'Authentication" file is not
located in the iis Manager they think it an "iis 5.1" issue or a
faulty "act internet sync" file. Act support said to uninstall and reinstall both software applications to see if it solves the problem. -- i am not so convinced. we had the same issue with 2008. had to use "network sync", putty in and use a "localhost" connection.
