So last night our admin changed the pc name to a pc running ACT! on it locally, it was test database (we have not put our faith in act! entirely yet) and FILLED with new designs
when i tried to access the db today i got an error telling me to check my connection
If this database is corrupt thats a lot of WORK DOWN THE DRAIN
anyone have any suggestions
ACT! is not as stable as they say it is apparently
HELP! me get our database back
FYI the demo loads fine (big surprise there)

ACT! is very stable, but it refers to the database by machine name. So, changing the machine name would mean it can no-longer find the database.
See this ACT! Knowledge Base article -

Ahh i see, seems like such a simple mistake, but can give such a headache.
well after a week of moving and being nesteld on the new machine a NEW ERROR has come up, since i know very little about the quirks in act! maybe you can once again shed some light
I am hoping others have seen this before, i have tried clicking the PAD file, and it is pointing in the proper place

This is a SQL error, not ACT!. Most likely, this means you have damaged the database by moving it when it was open or from a faulty disc drive or controller.
This can sometimes be difficult to repair depending on where the damage is.
You have these options:
Before you try anything, I suggest doing a backup:

NVM i jsut tried to do so via the ACT! shceduler and got the same sql error
well the good news is we only had ONE or TWO records changed since the last backup, still seems a biit unreliable though, everytime we use this program it gives me the shivers about its reliabilty and the amount of data we WILL lsoe when it finally crashes

act diag was also a dead end, it gave em an error saying it could not connect tot he sql server, i tried to restart it via the snap in but notcied no change in the problem
