My remote database plus so far three of my clients have this problem. This happens with templates as well. The first two times I called in to ACT tech support about this issue the tech support person knew nothing about it. This time ACT tech support tells me that tier three support does not see this issue as a priority and consider it “working as designed”. Then synch stops when the path name exceeds 256 which now is happening to me almost daily, as I synch hourly. I have removed the layout folder from the remote, cleaned up the layout file names on the server and then copied the cleaned-up layout folder from the publisher and gave it to the remote and yet still this keeps happening. I am told that doing a Save Copy As and then recut the remotes makes the issue go away. Well I tried the Save Copy As suggestion and cut a new remote and the problem still exists. According to Tech Support this happens when you have converted a database from an earlier version of ACT SQL to 10.0.3 and 11.0. Also I have another database that was also converted from an earlier SQL version and that Publisher and Subscriber do not have the same issue. I should also mention that I am not editing my layouts and yet the files names get longer and longer after almost each synch. Examples of what is happening are below.
