ACT database on server not accessible

Installed ACT 2009 Premium on test server.  Server is member of domain and users have full privledges to folder where ACT database is installed.  Firewall turned off on server and workstation.  When we access database from server have no issue.  When we attempt to open PAD file from workstation we get error message that workstation could not find database on host (workstation name).

Have attempted to run as Administrator so user has full privledges on workstation and server.  Would appreciate any ideas, suggestions, solutions.  Thank you.

Re: ACT database on server not accessible

Was able to resolve problem by directly sharing folder with PAD file.  Although this folder was fully accessible from workstation - was able to read/write to it, it seems that a permissions issue was somehow creating a problem.  After sharing this folder directly and mapping it from workstation, ACT database is now accessible.  Thanks for your suggestions.

Re: ACT database on server not accessible

The pad file error message seems confusing.

From the server, try copying the server's pad file into the Database's supplemental folders. Then share the database from within ACT! (Tolls | Database Maintenance | Share Database), and then browse from the workstation to that share, and open the pad.

If all computers are part of the Active Directory, this should be straight forward.

Suggestion did not solve problem.  Verified that user has full permission to folders by creating new folders, files, etc.  It seems that workstation thinks the database is installed locally not on the server.  Would appreciate any further suggestions.  (Database is shared).

Re: ACT database on server not accessible

Go to the ACT! server and use ACTDIAG to detach the database.

Then delete both local and shared pad files, and use ACT! to open the ADF file.

It'll run a verification while opening, but it should work fine afterwards if their are not any niggly permission issue interfering.
