ACT! by Sage Premium crash on start up

Hi guys, ACT! is set to run on startup on our company PC's and atleast once or twice every week, the application crashes and it gives us a generic windows application crash message with no details

anyone know anything about this at all? wish I could be more specific...

Any place I could gather crash details ?

Does it crash if it's not in the startup group?

Does it crash if you use the demo database?

Will test those out and let you know...

it will take atleast a week to see if we can reproduce the crash with the new settings

Thanks

Re: ACT! by Sage Premium crash on start up

Hello bromefinancement,

Welcome to the ACT! Online Community. ACT! requires two key services to be running in order to properly execute...the Protexis licensing service and SQL Server. If, in the order of startup, the ACT! executable is attempting to run before these other two services are up and running, this could very well cause a crash. This is why we do not advise that ACT! itself be included as a startup program, unless you can configure the startup to make sure Protexis and SQL are running prior to ActSage.exe.

Note: Effective 6/1/13, Sage no longers provides support for the Act! software. This is now provided by Swiftpage.

no crash so far by having removed ACT from startup config
