ACT Premium for Web 10.0 and Outlook HELP!

I'm trying to setup outlook integration with ACT Premium for Web 10.0. I can log onto our ACT website and download the file from the E-mail Preferences page. It seems to instal fine. When I open outlook I get the following error:

(The ACT! Premium for Web address book service cannot be accessed. The username and password for ##########.pad may be incorrect, or the database may have changed locations. Do you want to reconfigure it now?)

If I click yes it open the Address Books box. When I click edit I get an Updated required box.

ACT Version: 10.0.1.167

Outlook: 2003sp3

I desperatly need some advice on this.

Thanks in advance.

That sounds interesting - I would backup the Database ---

Uninstall ACT then reinstall

If you haven't resolved this, you might try updating to 10.0.2

Or try this this ACT! Knowledge Base article - http://tinyurl.com/4fcabw

Re: ACT Premium for Web 10.0 and Outlook HELP!

I have a similar problem, I have followed this thread and been through Scott's pdf document but with 10.0.0.2 hotfix 1 I still get the following error when I add the address book to either Outlook 2003 or 2007 on XP or Vista

The ACT! Premium for Web service can not be reached at this time.
The database may be locked or the network connection may be down.
Please try again later.

One difference between my system and Scott's is that I use port 8090 rather than 80 so my link is: http://192.168.123.9:8090/apfw_b I can load the Act! Web page with no problem and just in case I have opened the Window Firewall port 8090 UDP and TCP on the client pc.
TIA

Re: ACT Premium for Web 10.0 and Outlook HELP!

I've not tried to set up the Outlook integration with a non-standard port, but here are some ideas to look for:

On the web server, you will have a Virtual folder for apfw_b and one for APFWOutlookSrvc - have you also set the port for APFWOutlookSrvc?

In APFW, go Tools | Preferences | Email - Click here to view Web  Service address. Does the URL show the port?

When you added the Web Service Address book, did you include the port?

If none of that works, there are free TCP Port redirectors that you can find with a Google search that can redirect an incomming call on one port to another that might be an option

Re: ACT Premium for Web 10.0 and Outlook HELP!

thanks, that helped plus the fact I hadn't edited web.config for Outlook as well. Now to get activities to work properly!

So, it's working on the other port? Which was the fix?

What are you trying to do with activities?

Re: ACT Premium for Web 10.0 and Outlook HELP!

The APFWOutlookSrvc was not added to the virtual directory APFW_b nor was the entry in web.config enabled,

Outlook Web Service address with virutal
Leave this value empty if virtual is defined and is used to access the
web site. If web site mapped to ip address and no virtual is in the path
then this entry must be filled out with the virtual name
value="http://www.xxx.com:8080/apfw". Value is read at application start.
add key="Act.Web.OutlookWebServiceAddress" value="http://bagpuss:8090/apfw_b" /

As for activities I was testing whether Outlook appointments are sent when Act! for web schedules an appointment with a contact, but it looks like a simple email is sent.

Re: ACT Premium for Web 10.0 and Outlook HELP!

Re activities: It would be nice if it send a vCal appointment (ACT! 6.0 and earlier used to do this).

You might post a request for this feature to be considered for a future version here - http://www.act.com/community/feature

Input from this web page goes directly into a database that management has direct access to read, and which they also track and gather statistics on.

Mike:

What is the default port for Act for Web to try to make the history? I'm having firewall hits that are being denied on port 80, but my users are in the database through a VPN, not through port 80. They are not have successful history entries.

How do I reset the default to a direct internal connection?

Thanks,
