ACT Address book

I have a user who's ACT address book settings keep falling off and of course then Outlook wants to re-set it up. There is no consistency in why or when it happens.  It is also the only ACT preference that falls off.

Re: ACT Address book

What version of ACT!?  Is the database installed in a network environment or local to the user's machine? This would help to direct you down the correct path.

Re: ACT Address book

version 11 on a network with a local copy of the pad.  However out of 25 users this is only happening to one user with regularlity.

Re: ACT Address book

Do all other Preferences remain ok or do all Prefs get lost?

If only Outlook address book, it might be a network connection issue... if the database isn't available when Outlook opens, it disables it and doesn't connect next time.

You might also try this ACT! Knowledge Base article -

Re: ACT Address book

That sounds logical but there are 3 other people in that office and it doesn't appear to be an issue for them. I'll read the KB you recommended and see if I can glean anything from that.

Thanks.

Re: ACT Address book

The fact that it only happens to one user could easily be a network connection issue on their PC

Re: ACT Address book

But his system is recording nothing in his dump file or event log. What's the easiest way to check this theory?

Re: ACT Address book

The problem may show up in the logs on the previous attempt.

Does the user sometimes option ACT!/Outlook when not on the LAN (ie a laptop user)?

Did you try the items in the kbowledge base link I posted?

Re: ACT Address book

Even removing the address book items from the registry?

Tried a Detect/Repair in Outlook?

How often does it happen? When?
