ACT!2010 Installation does not find SQL instance

Hello,

We have got an existing MSSQL 2008, running on a Windows 2008 Server OS, there are already a couple of dbs running.

We created a new instance ACT7 and installed ACT!2010 Premium. But the installation does not recognize that there is a ACT7 instance running (service is running). The installation tries to install MS SQL express. Therefor i cancelled the installation.

I deleted the instance and tried it again but the same result.

The ACT installation created a directory  C:\Program Files\ACT\Act for Windows

There I found "SecurityCmdLnApp.exe".

If I run this programm with password and with an ACT7 instance then there is no ouput on the command line.

Without the instance there is an error message like instance not found.

Is there a way that the installation finds the ACT7 instance?

Thx for your help in advance.

Regards,

Re: ACT!2010 Installation does not find SQL instance

The installer looks for the following registry key to detect for presence of ACT7 instance :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\       InstalledInstances

InstalledInstances: it is a multi-string value and one of the value should be ACT7.
