ACT 2010 Custom opportunity fields

I created fields for managing my teams opportunities but the text does not wrap in the layout.  How do you set it up to wrap text?

You can't unless they are memo fields.

Thanks Roy.  I changed them to Memo fields and it works.  Is there a downside to using the memo field type vs. Character?

The main one is that you can't use any of the block Copy/Replace commands with memo fields.

Re: ACT 2010 Custom opportunity fields

I'm having the same issue that I need to change some large notes fields to memo fields so that they word wrap on the lay-out.  It warns you might lose data?  Before I do this, I wanted to see if anyone else had lost data due to changing a character field to a memo field?

THANKS!

That is standard warning that is displayed anytime that you alter the characteristics of a field.  It usually pertains to fields that larger changing to a smaller field such a 50 character field being changed to a 10 digit phone field.  I don't see how you could lose any data going to a memo field field which is by definition unlimited.  Best practice always have a recent backup before altering your DB.

I am having the same issue - field is marked as memo but text in the field will not wrap (and no scrolling arrows are present).

Re: ACT 2010 Custom opportunity fields

If it doesn't word wrap it's a text field not a memo field. Also in a Memo field you can use Ctrl+Enter to start a new line.

In the define fields select a field data type- shows as a memo.  Ctrl+Enter doesn't work either.
