ACT! 2006 Premium Database Problems

[ Edited ]

Hello,

When attempting to upgrade ACT! 2006 Premium to ACT! 2008, we discovered that the 2008 Standard version had been purchased instead of 2008 Premium. After ACT! 2008 Standard installed, it wanted to convert our database but we got an error stating the database would have to be saved in Standard format first. We uninstalled ACT! 2008 Standard/SQL 2005 and reinstalled ACT! 2006 Premium/SQL 2000, but now ACT! will not open the database. I'm thinking since ACT! 2008/SQL 2005 had begun to process the database, the structure changed and now ACT! 2006/SQL 2000 cannot open the database. I also tried using act8diag but get errors stating the file is inaccessible. Any way I can recover my database (unfortunately we have no backup) using ACT! 2006 Premium or am I out of luck until we get ACT! 2008 Premium? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Jeff

Thanks for replying. The folks at ACT! Database Services repaired our database and it's ready for when we get ACT! 2009 Premium next week.

Re: ACT! 2006 Premium Database Problems

If the database did not actually get updated, I don't believe it would have been affected. The problem may be SQL related.  What is the error you receive when you try to open your database in ACT! 2006?

Note: Effective 6/1/13, Sage no longers provides support for the Act! software. This is now provided by Swiftpage.
