Re: A small bug in ACT V18 Premium Web

Also, in Explorer 11, having issue where I click Call to add a note to call the contact in the future and the box opens all white.  ACT reps response is to reset in Advanced (IE options) and reboot machine.  Did this yesterday, fixed for a while.  Am I going to have to "reset" and "reboot" every day?  this is rather absurd.

Hi rcoppersmith,

It would be worth checking your IE settings to make sure that your database URL is not in the Compatibility View Settings, and has been added to trusted sites.
There is more information regarding suggested settings in the following Knowledgebase article: http://kb.act.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/38231

There is also a setting in IE that will clear the pages' cache on each load. This can be found in Internet Options > General > Settings. The option can be see in the screenshot below. I would only change this option if the previous suggestion has no effect, as it could potentially sightly slow down page loads.

Are you hosting your own Act v18 Premium Web server, or are you using Act Premium Cloud?

Thank you for responding.  I had already removed the URL from Compatability.  ACT is in my trusted sites, as http://hosted1.Act.com and with https.  Is this the correct URL to be there?

If that is the URL that you access your database with, then yes that's correct.

that is the url.  I have the db open, and the url starts with http://  when I try to add that plus our company name that completes the url to Trusted sites, tells me I can only add sites with https://   is that a problem?

I rebooted my pc this morning.  When I use IE and try to add a Call, still get the white box.  Can see at the top 3 boxes for General  Detail  Recurrence  and t the Private box and OK Cancel at bottom.  rest of the box is white/blank.

It may be a caching issue. Could you try pressing Ctrl + F5 when looking at the database, and also trying my suggestion in the screenshot above.

Does the page load after clicking any of the tabs at the top (General Detail Recurrence) and waiting a few seconds?

did Ctrl F5, no change, same when pressing the Detail etc buttons and waiting.

It will work in Firefox and in Chrome, but other things act odd in those programs.  Using Firefox I was adding notes to a Contact and when hit OK it changed the Contact on me.

Also, when using Chrome, IE or Firefox, if I add a Note, or run Task List, the screen goes white, then comes back in  moment after it appears to reload.

My internet is at a paltry 12mbs download and slower upload, is this why this is happening?

Thank you for all of your answers!

Re: A small bug in ACT V18 Premium Web

Chrome and Firefox will show the page refreshing when performing certain actions like you describe here. This is normal behaviour.
Your internet speed is above recommendation, so shouldn't be a factor.

The last thing I would potentially look at would be anti-virus software blocking certain web page elements (iframes in this case). Could you try temporarily disabling any anti-virus software you have installed?

To test further in a different environment, would you be able to send me private message with your database address and your login details?
