I am developing an import program that creates company and opportunity data from an SQL database in an Act! db. It also regulates the user access to those records. The program runs once each night.
This has the undesired side effect that many thousands of useless history entries are created, which on the longer run clogs up the database. I'd like to prevent that from happening.
Is there any method in Act!16 that I can use in VB by which I can switch off the generation of access change history items?

There is a batch update mode that might do it. I've been wondering what purpose it serves. It's probably worth a try. You could also change all of the settings and then change them back but that would be pretty challenging to accomplish.
