XData for ACT! - Web API for ACT! Developers.

[ Edited ]

XData for ACT is now available to software developers all around the world,

Xact Software’s Web based Interface for ACT is now accessible to all software developers, the current BETA version can be found online @  http://123.100.105.20/XData/ , full documentation, sample code and Demos are also available there.

We would like to invite all developers to take a look at our XData interface and use it to create cutting edge online solutions for ACT.

XData was designed to bring ACT a step closer to today’s online world, using XData developers can create all types of solutions for Web, Mobile and Desktop environments, XData was designed so that it is very easy to learn and use, our aim is to expose the global software development community to ACT through the use of XData promoting ACT! as a viable web enabled product.

For those interested please be sure to visit our XData website and learn more about XData by reading the documentation here (http://123.100.105.20/XData/Docs/) . Contact us and to join our discussion group on LinkedIn (our Linked in Group name is: Xact software , Advanced solutions for ACT). We look forward to receiving your feedback.

Application has been made with Sage ACT! to provide a Sage ACT!  SKU to cover license requirements for the end user , we are expecting release of an SKU soon.

Re: XData for ACT! - Web API for ACT! Developers.

Typical examples of where the XData API has relevance are:-

1. You have prospects or customers who register on your website and their details will automatically be entered into ACT!, so you don't have to manually enter data or oversee an otherwise semi-automated process.

OR

2. Where you have an organisation dealing with many people such as clubs or associations where subscription or newsletter distribution contact details need to be kept current. No need to have the overhead of an administrator entering data as with the API you can provide controlled access to respondents own record for self editing.

We get steady request for more information on XData from these forums, there is clear interest from the developer community and companies to be able to provide B2B data solutions. We make license available to developers for testing, however the product remains in beta mode. Our December 2010 request to Sage ACT! for approval and license of XData with Sage ACT! remains unfulfilled but not declined.

Xact Software, the development community and most importantly Sage ACT! customers remain without a very necessary tool  that would help to keep ACT! competitive. What is obvious is the emergence of fast growing SaaS competitors to ACT! that weren't on the radar as little as 24 months ago, that nowadays have generated a lot of interest. Within 3 months, one of the most obvious and strong competitors, Nimble will release a public API while ACT! remains without a Web API.

If the ACT! community would like to see our API available for ACT! please make your wish known to Sage North America ACT! executive.
