Oh great. that is useful to know.
There's been lots of confusion / lack of communication on this issue.
But glad it's all resolved, and do understand the challenge it can be to replace a 3rd party provider with a short notice.
Note that VisualStudio must be running as admin to be able to run debugger ; at least in my environment.

Turns out I must have been on the wrong build of update 5. Once I reinstalled I'm able to logon using the Framework again.
I'll try to keep an eye on the overall issue with the other versions to see if it causes any problems.
