Swiftpage Statement on Issues with VB.Net compiler

The following is a statement from Swiftpage which will be circulated to members of the Act! Developer Program shortly. As it impacts many developers, I wanted to get this out through as many forums as possible.

Swiftpage Statement on Issues with VB.Net compiler
Swiftpage is aware of issues impacting third-party Act! development when attempting to compile in VB.Net. The compiler fails with errors when referencing the Act! license provider’s DLLs. This issue is caused by a conflict with the obfuscation used to protect these licensing files. The issue also impacts the use of existing VB applications developed for the Act! web client, due to operations which occur at runtime. Applications created in another language, such as C#, are not impacted.
Attempts to resolve these issues by reducing the obfuscation level have been unsuccessful, and unfortunately, it cannot be removed completely without compromising the security of Act! licensing. A change to the existing obfuscation technology has also been examined, however, this would involve significant development and risks creating issues in other areas of the application.
Accordingly, no changes to the obfuscation level of the licensing are being planned at this time.
