Not a developer, but have a question on OLEDB

I don't know where else to post this question.

I was wondering if anyone knows how to make the OLEDB active?  In other words, what are the steps to make it work?

I keep on getting this error:

---------------------------
Microsoft Excel
---------------------------
Cannot CoCreateInstance(CLSID_IOleDBSecurityImp)
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Thanks!

Pat

I've had this before, and if I remember correctly, one of the following KB articles fixed it:

20495

Re: Not a developer, but have a question on OLEDB

OK, Thank You, got it to work, but for some reason, I keep on getting a Microsoft Error trying to use Reporting 2 but not the Reporting OLE DB of the past.  Why does it do that?

Also,  since I am new to this,  what is the next step after the Excel file is saved?  What does one do with the Excel file to make it run in the background or whatever it is supposed to do?

Bear with me for I am new to all this.

Thanks!

Re: Not a developer, but have a question on OLEDB

Pat, I was getting that error for a couple of days with 2009. It even showed up in a web demo I was doing. Very annoying! Nuked and paved my way out of it.    If this helps I had ACT 2010 Release Candidate on that computer before I went back down to 2009. -- Jim Durkin

Re: Not a developer, but have a question on OLEDB

Thanks!

This partially answers my question, but here are a few more:

1) Why Does Reporting 2 not work for 2010?  It says there is an error about losing this file and asking to recover it again.

2) What do you do with the Excel file after it's created?  If you create all these excel files for all these different reports, do they run in the background?  What do you do with them?

3) I was able to create the Excel reporting for the earlier version, and it refreshes every 60 seconds, but if I manually click "refresh" it crashes.

My 2 cents.  Any answers?
