I have a problem trying to access tot he ACT DB using the OLEDB through excel.
I can connect and see the list of tables. When i then select 1 and then choose whether to duisplay the data in a cell or a new worksheet excel just restarts with a message saying error encountered.
I've updated MDAC but still no joy.
I'm getting this problem on both machines that i'm trying out. One is a client XP machine and the other is a 2003 server. Both with Office 2003 installed on them.
Any ideas what it could be or at least how to diagnose further.

Just some further information the exception seems to be thrown in the ACTOLEDB.DLL according to Excel.
Probably no use knowing that and probably also stating the obvious but thought i'd mention it anyway.

I've performed a Repair and detect in Excel 2003.
I've also tried the repair OLE DB objects via ActDiag.
I will try the ActDFemo Db, but what is the default username and password for that database.

That's interesting. Trying to import data using the Demo database works fine.
Any ideas what it could mean then. Is it perhaps the number of records that it its fetching (roughly 6000).
I've noticed having registerd the ACTOLEDB.DLL the faulting module is now NTDLL.DLL.
