Error Handling and Best Practices

What methods are others using to ensure stability and proper error handling in ACT!? For example when getting contacts every method returns a contact list so am I to then check the ContactList Count? Is that really how Sage expects me to use their sdk? For example in other sdk's I've used there might be a method such as bool VerifyName() and then I can do a simple T/F check before actually attempting to get the record??

 

Any direction / tips would be greatly appreciated.

I guess it really depends on what parts of the framework your accessing..  If your getting a ContactList, then yes, the best way would be to see if it contains any records when it comes back.
