Hi, I am new to the world of Sage ACT! here in the UK (using Pro 2012) and have recently passed the certification exams for the user and admin and am now looking into passing the developer exam. There does seem to however be a shortage of material to assist in this.
Does anybody have any information or will be able to point me in the right direction to find out what is required to pass the exam?
I have worked through the samples in the SDK so can add menu commands via plugins, create custom controls for the dashboard and layouts and do some basic data updating etc.

The best, first step would be to contact the Developers Programme in the UK: 0845 111 55 55. The steps to join the program are different here than in the UK so if you have any question or concerns they'd be best equipped to answer them.
There are no prerequisities to take the exam prior to using the tools, only a subscrition fee that will grant you access to Act, Sage 50 Accounts and Sage 50 Payroll SDKs and the documentation.
All information on certification and accreditation is available here:
There is an exam that allows you to display a logo on your marketing materials and website indicating you're a certified developer and you would then also be listed in the directory of certified developers. The exam is a set of multiple choice questions based on all aspects of the SDK. Resources available to pass the exam are the SDK help files produced in the US and our own Act help files we produce in the UK.
