Problem with syncing calendar entries between Act and Act Connect

When you enter an 'activity' calendar entry in CONNECT this activity does not sync into the main Act Database.

 

If you enter the 'activity' originally in Act the syc appears in Connect but in the 'regarding' line which would normally be your activity subject. the 'Schedule With' line appears.

 

So from my limited understanding - Connect is picking up the wrong line within Act!

 

Any advice on this - I only use One Database (however we have five users) we run the main administrator database on a Windows 2008 Server and remote sync our individual databases.

 

Ideally we want to use Act Connect on Ipads remotely because of speed and convenience.

Hello Phil,
Thank you for participating in the Sage ACT! Connect HTML5 Mobile Client beta. I tested this and was not able to duplicate the 2 issues you described, although sometimes I am seeing it takes a couple of syncs to get the activities to come down. What device and browser are you using to access the mobile client? Also, make sure you refresh the client after syncing the database with the PC client. Another thing to note is that activities scheduled in the client do not give you the option to link them to a contact, so all activities created in the mobile client will have you as the contact.

Hi thanks for your reply. I am using iPad 2 with safari IOS 5. The main Act Database sits on a windows server along with the Act Connect Service. I remember however when I started using Act Connect original portal the activity subject matter was syncing correctly to Act.
The problem started after the recent major hot fix update to the main Act Program and database upgrade.

I have not seen the SP1 update affect SAC in this manner. Are you accessing the data on your iPad using the new beta client at www.sageactconnect.com/mobile? If you have not already done so, you may also want to uninstall the Sage ACT! Connect PC client from the server, download it again from the portal, then reinstall it on the server. In addition you can run maintenance on your database in ACT! from the server by going to Tools > Database Maintenance > Check and Repair.

I will try the database maintenance and repair tomorrow.
If I uninstall connect and reinstall again on the server - is this likely to cause duplications to the connect database that is cloud based?

No, this will not cause duplication on the portal.

I carried out your instruction to 'repair database in Act' then re-install Act Connect. It does not make any difference. Even using original Act Connect portal on PC or Act Mobile Beta on an ipad.
If you enter the activity in Native Act - then on the portal it only shows the time duration of the activity on the portal with no subject information.
If you enter an activity in Act Connect, then on Act database it shows my Name and record details in the 'regarding' box - not the actual subject matter

As far as I am concerned Act is working correctly - as I actually use Companion Link on iphone to enter activities - these sync perfectly into the main Act Database. - again on these entries when viewing in Connect you only see the time slot with no subject matter

I will try to save some screen shots tomorrow when I am back in my office and send to you.

However, please correct me if I am wrong . I presume that Act Connect 'maps' to different line fields within Native Act. Surely it is mapping to the wrong field? can it be corrected manually on the portal?

Phil there is mapping as far as contacts are concerned but for activities it syncing them over as they are.
