Outlook has long had a nice feature to add in holidays to the calendar based on your country. This is a added feature that does not effect core functionality of the calendar, so it should not be too tough.
Just search Help for Holidays in Outlook to see a simple implementation. The Outlook holidays are stored in an editable file name.hol

In the same way that the Outlook email client is seen as preferable to the ACT! email client by most ACT! users, so the Outlook Calendar is far more flexible, faster and elegant than the ACT calendar.
We now have the option to not use the ACT email client so could we not also have the option Not to use the ACT! calendar at all but just to use the Outlook one?

I just upgraded from ACT 5.0, because I bought a new Windows 7 laptop, and it wouldn't run 5.0 What I liked best about 5.0 was the ability to print a weekly calendar with the phone number beside each appointment. That is not available any more. What can I do?
Sometimes when I am going through my desk there are lots of little things that need to be captured in a fast – non-interrupted manner.
For example a list might look like this:
TM - roster
car insurance
bcpo
CALENDAR
Call rekha
update website w PT
Send Misty a card
Call X - where are cards?

This is a collection of things that pop into my head which I don’t want to forget but I can’t stop what I am doing to address that task/item/call/todo at that moment. At a later time, I’ll put in my ACT! calendar with more information as needed. Some of the items I do within the hour and delete since completed.
Entering into the ACT! task section will not work because I have to stop and think about who, what, and when in order to make the task breaking my current thought process to shift gears. The point is to capture the thought without disrupting the current process.
After the brainstorming, I want to be able to move the list around, change the order, change the priority so I can work from the list at that time or import into ACT as task attached to contacts for items that can’t be completed immediately (then I want to think about the task’s needs, whos, whats and whens). I used sideACT for this process. Now I am using a post-it note – that is NOT working because I can’t move the list around or import it or draw a line through it when done (some completed items I want to put into ACT! as history for that client) or import into ACT! 2010. What I do like about the post-it note is it is small (I can make it as big as I want) and it can stay in the corner of the screen without interrupting other programs/work progress.
I understand a lot of people never used sideACT – from my experience my clients didn’t even know what it was for so they ignored it until I showed them how to use it.
Please put a task brainstorming element back in.
THANK YOU!!!

I think the following would be useful for those using Resources:
EG: Shedule Activity Type "Training", it could show the training rooms that are available and, when you select one, also add the Location

I would like to see Activities (Calls and Meetings in particular) entered on the Contact History tab by doing a "Create History" show on my Calendar views as Completed Activities.
Currently the only way to record an incoming call or a chance meeting or drop-in and have it show in the Calendar is to Schedule it on the Contact Activity tab, then Clear it.
From years of using paper diaries and planners I still prefer to use Calendar view as the main way of quickly reviewing the past week/month's calls and activities. Using History reports etc is slower and requires setting the parameters etc, and doesn't give the same quick overview of the week or month that a calendar view does. Also you can't click on a Contact in a report to get into the detail if necessary.
Consequently I never use the Create History function, but also don't like the time wasted on the double entry process to get around it.
When a user is in Outlook and accepts an invitation, this meeting gets copies over to the ACT calendar. If the user accepts the invitation as "Tentative" though, it does not get copied over to ACT (and thus typically the user will never attend the meeting). It would seem reasonable that a tentatively accepted meeting should get copied to ACT (and in some fashion then marked as 'tentative'.

I have an idea! How do I get started?
