I've booked an appointment in ACT!
I send the info to Outlook
NO CLIENT PHONE #
NO CLIENT ADDRESS, CITY, STATE OR ZIP
This seems almost stupid to have to ask for. All the data is there, but your programming does not port it to the Outlook calendar.
HELP!!!! Thanks so much for listening.
Thanks for listening, alduet.
If you haven't done so, try sync'ing a call or meeting to Outlook, edit it, change the follow-up date, and then allow Outlook to sync toward ACT. The additional text added by ACT really becomes a mess.
Ideally, if I have set an appt (or phone call), I should be able to have all the data necessary to get there and contact the prospect. After the meeting, I should be able to edit the event in my PDA and have it update ACT's client file. Certainly doesn't work that way now.
There are many issues related to synchronizing ACT! and Outlook, many of them outside the framework of the ACT! solution (i.e. Exchange). Hence, 3rd party solutions do work better.
Another package that is designed to deal with enterprise synchronization with Outlook is the new 123-synchronizer 2010 for ACT! and Outlook 123-synchronizer.com
Beware of people posting links on their messages that have a text and the link points to another place i.e. The link for Handheld Contact is different than their web site. That means that the individual posting the link has a monetary interest on you clicking on the link. Hence, their advice is neither objective nor usefull.
MODERATOR, how can you allow this to happen????
Assuming you mean me, Thatch. We don't have a monetary interest on someone clicking on a link. We don't sell to end-users, that's up to ACCs and other ACT! resellers.
We simply post the products to our site that we have tested and that I prefer to use.
I have act and schedule my meetings in act and sync to outlook. I completly agree that the information transferred to outlook via act is terrible. When I schedule an Appointment I want the Contact information all to be placed in the details section of the meeting/todo/call.
That way on my iphone i do not have to load another app or look up the contact or anything else. This should be a very simple thing to do.
My old company used SalesForce.com and we had it dialed in where all that information went straight into outlook and I didnt have to do anything other than check my outlook cal and make calls attend meetings. The outlook Cal and Salesforce.com would sync not just a one way loading feature like act 2010.
I am not a software engineer but this has to be simple thing to do....
